Manitwo Flyers Club Meeting

M&M Lunch, Two Rivers, WI 10/17/06

Meeting called to order by pres. Lloyd Federer.

Role was taken by Tom Curelli: 10 members present. 

Treasurer’s Report read by Tom Curelli. 

1. Net worth of club is currently $8,748.

2. Motion to approve by Jack Schoenberger, seconded by Lew Stevens, unanimously passed.

Field Sign

             Tom Curelli reported that he should get the finished sign ready for mounting in about a week.

Flying Field

             Lew reported that grass cutting for the year is done.  Also anyone going out to the field should be very careful

because the road is getting very slippery with the recent rains.  Lew is also going to check with BM waste service to                    see if it is OK to leave the ”John” operational in the winter.  Lew will install some stakes to prevent traffic in the Spring so we don’t  have people getting stuck.

Field Improvements

The well has been drilled.  It is 360 ft deep and will provide 60 gpm.  The irrigation system is to be put in in the   next couple of weeks.

Fund Raising

Don Gruett met with the administrator of the West Foundation.  He reported that money is available and that we   have to fill out an application.  He then read off the requirements for any grants that might be awarded.  Don will be filling out the paper work for the application.  He also is planning on contacting approximately 26 companies to solicit funds for our club with the hope that we can get matching funds from the West Foundation.  We will need about $350,000.00 to complete our field and an additional endowment to sustain the club in the future.

It was noted that part of the fund raising effort will have to be born by the club.  Al Howarth gave many suggestions for fund raising activities.  

Election of Officers

President Lloyd Federer reported that both Tom Curelli, Jim , and himself are not interested in being officers for the next year.   These positions have to be filled.

 Open Floor

Tom Curelli asked about time frame of fund raising efforts.  It was agreed that we should target next Spring as a completion date for our fund raising efforts.

Also the question of being able to spend some of the donations before the fund raising effort is complete came up.  Apparently this is not a problem, but it may be wise to wait until we know how much money is available before we commit to any improvements.

Gene Pagel Contacted the people in charge of  Ethnic Fest to see if we could have a food booth at next year’s festival.  An application will be sent and Gene will send it in.

A motion was made by Don Gruett to adjourn, seconded by Tom Curelli.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned.
