Field news
Pavex leveled the field. Gene and Al said ok and they were done. We have been dealing with Shambeaus or Ross on doing the field. Ross will be doing leveling soon, when he is done the rest of the can be done. Jeff Byer was called about the lease back of several acres of land at the new field but we have not been able to get in touch with him yet. Jack Coenen got material for the new sign and is waiting for the wood to dry a bit before painting it. There is a seeder from Wonder Springs that is about 7 feet wide and weighs 1000 pounds available. We need a way to trailer it to the field. Reinders grass seed is $1.04 per pound. We should need about 129 pounds per acre. The south side of the new field up to the north end has been worked up for seeding. The work is being done by Gene, Lew and Lloyd. Green Acres has a drag roller we could use on the field. The seed can be put into Tom's shed until the seeder is ready then hit the field with it once the weather permits. The new field will need some rocks picker. Insurance certificates were sent to Schuh for the old field, and Peterson at the county for the new field.
Manitwo flyers had an article in the paper about the resent folk fair. Gene, Don Meneau and Jack Schoenberg were there to represent the club.
Boy scouts troop we will not follow up on this venture right now. Until the current business is completed and until more volunteers come forward it is not possible to support Boy Scout training.
The Fond du Lac club now has 80 members and still growing. This might be because of the trainers they have. They can train people to fly planes, helicopters and jets. What can the Manitwo Flyers do to increase their membership?
Steve at Fox Hills was called about flying on Saturday July 2. We are concerned about having the fireworks display setup so close.
501C3 update. Air show has this status and gets a lot of donations. The air show is always working at getting kids involved. Pilots and meteorologists are getting into the schools to teach kids about planes and weather. Perhaps we could put on a RC display at the Rahr West museum or at the library like we used to do. This will go towards the educational aspect of the 501C3.
The Manitowoc Air show is going to have a float in the Memorial Day parade. The Manitwo Flyers will have a sign on the float advertising the club. At the Air Show we will have the use of Don Gruett’s hanger. In the walkway will be several rugs to club shoes before entering. Tim Sorenson the heli stunt pilot will be at the Air show on Saturday only to fly. Maybe Chad could fly on Sunday. Northern Aces were going to be part of air show. The sent contract asking double amount, they may not make it there because of that. Their price is per day not per event. They were asked to be there for 2 days, so the price doubled. Roll call of who is bringing planes to air show. Call produced about 25 possible planes. Parking passes are limited but will be available. Not sure when setup will be, probably sometime on Friday night about 4:00 or 5:00. Either get tables from Fond du Lac or rent them or avoid them altogether. Charles McMillan can not make the air show due to work concerns.
The flight education days should be on August 13th. From 9:00 AM until 4:00 pm. We will have refreshments available for sale. Motion was made by Jack and seconded by Tom. Motion was carried.
Someone should contact last year’s members and remind them to rejoin or find out what there intentions are about the club for this year.
Use of retracts on the old field is not a good idea since the field is very rough.
Motion to adjourn by Francis and seconded by Jack. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 8:47pm.
