March Meeting Minutes 03/15/05

Al Howarth called the meeting to order at 7:35pm.

Role was taken with 08 members present.

The Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

The minutes of the February meeting were read. A motion to approve the minutes as read was made. Motion carried.

Al Howarth to see Don Gruett prior to Air show meeting concerning use of hanger

Al Howarth to contact Steve Scheian concerning his availability on grading the new field in preparation of seeding. It is hoped that a reasonable cost for ground preparation can be negotiated.

Al Howarth Discussed the Donor Board for the new field. A 4’ X 8’ sheet size was deemed suitable and Al would check with the Town Of two Rivers on regulations and permit. Tom Curelli will do a preliminary layout Sketch for the next meeting.

Al Howarth discussed our participation in the Memorial Day Parade. Patriotic float theme concept and design were presented. No consensus was reached.

Gerald Schlei Announced he will be leaving the club to pursue full scale flying with his son. He offered his Sig Kadet trainer and all supporting equipment up for sale. After discussion and in recognition of the club’s desire to have a club trainer, it was motion, seconded and passed to purchase the trainer for $250.00. Tom Curelli will retrieve and store the trainer for now.

Al Howarth Opened a discussion on new membership. This year is lagging prior years. Gene Pagel has made contact with several youth groups and pursuing methods to contact and recruit from these groups. Discussion was initiated on getting our former members out of their hangers and back flying with the club.

Discussion was closed at this point to all subject other than the new flying field.

On the new field, the need was expressed to stabilize the current entrance road. Al Howarth will call Jeff Byers (Manitowoc County) about not removing the sand piles so we can plant rough grass for erosion protection. Drainage will have to be addressed also.

A discussion followed on setting the priorities using our current funds.

1. Rough grade flying field.

2. Smooth grade and slope landing strip triangle at North end of property.

3. Plant grass on flying area.

4. If funds provide, complete road to flying area.
