Manitwo Flyers Club Meeting

Meeting called to order by pres. Lloyd Federer.

Role was taken by Tom Curelli: 12 members present.

Treasurer’s Report read by Tom Curelli. 

1.Net worth as of June 20 was $8,528.51.

2. Motion to approve by Lew Stevens, seconded by Vince Hickel, unanimously passed.

Business

1.      501c-3 (Al, Jim)

a.       We got our 501c-3 status: effective April 6, 2005 through December 31, 2009: Designated as “Public Charity”

b.      After December 31, 2009, there will be a determination whether Manitwo Flyers is a public charity or a private foundation.

c.       See letter from IRS as part of minutes.

2.      Field (Lew)

a.       Wet spot was filled in by Wes Coenen.  He spent a lot of his time doing so, in turn Lew bought 5 gallons of diesel fuel for Wes.

                                                                           i.      Gene & Lew raked and seeded the area

b.      Cutting once per week means the grass is long, however since it costs $15 in grass per cutting, we will continue with one time weekly

c.       TA Motorsports will lend us use of a tractor for rolling the field whenever we like.

d.      Send another “Thank you” to Wes Coenen for all his help.  Gas gift card or similar as a gift?

e.       Thanks to all those helping to make it into an amazing flying site!

3.      Proposal for shed and gazebo (Gene, Lloyd)

a.       Jeff Beyer approved putting up shed and gazebo

b.      Pledges toward the shed: $600-Dave Schield, $1000-Gene Pagel, $1000-Jim.  Big thank you to contributors!

c.       With the assistance of the pledges, Gene made a motion to purchase materials for shed and gazebo construction.  Seconded by Jim.  All were in favor and motion passed.

4.      Field Sign (Tom, Al)

a.       Waiting for Artwork design for BC signs to print

b.      Al Howarth has a very rough copy; Al to develop further

5.      Fun Flys (Eric)

a.       Saturday July 22, Saturday August 12, Saturday September 16, all from 9am-noon.

b.      Be a part of the first fun flys at the new field! 

6.      Open Floor

7.      Calling absentees

a.       Gene and Al agreed! that we need to “bother people” to get them to become more active in the club.

b.      Al will put together a list.

                                                                           i.      Roster, divide up absentees.  Each active member calls 2-3 absentees to: remind them of meeting, fun flys, Flight Ed, etc.
