Manitwo Flyers Ltd. Inc.

Established in late 1977 by a group of people looking to share their hobby of radio control flying models, the Manitwo Flyers was incorporated with the State of Wisconsin and became a charter club with the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

The club has maintained a flying field for the benefit of its members.  Membership has been between 30 and 50 strong, fathers, wives, sons and daughters.  Instruction for members is available for beginners and advanced flyers.  After basic instructions, new flyers are encouraged to get their pilot’s badge by demonstrating their flying proficiency.

Throughout the years, the club has hosted many flying and non flying events.  There have been mall shows, fun fly competitions for all skill levels, workshops on how to Monokote your plane and how to care for NICAD batteries.  The club maintains an extensive video tape library of instructional and entertaining videos about RC aircraft.

To help the community, the club has donated model aircraft subscriptions to the local schools and libraries, flight demonstrations for the 4H, boy scouts, schools, libraries, the Folk Fair and the Energy Center.  Members have put on a show at the Expo Center.  They have flown a pizza from the field to the fairgrounds and have attempted to fly a model across Lake Michigan.  The club has also helped with charity events.

In 2003 the club has been certified 501c(3).  This charitable tax deductible status was established to help us to develop our club flying field and to further enhance our position as an educational unit in Manitowoc County.

There is a monthly meeting on the third Tuesday of every month.  This meeting is held at the Two Rivers Fire Department on Monroe St. in Two Rivers at 7:00 P.M.

The club has sent newsletters for many years and now keeps its members informed with email and a website, www.manitwoflyers.com
