Business
CAP: Noll Ryder would like the Manitwo Flyers to help the CAP program assemble 8 ARF planes
i. Al Howarth to head up, but needs several helpers (4+ people for each night)
1. Volunteers thus far (for select nights): Don M, Lew, Jack S, Jim S.
ii. The 40 size trainers will need to be donated. 5 of the 8 have been donated thus far, money for remaining 3 planes would be welcomed
iii. The planes will be built at the CAP building across from the Rahr West museum in Manitowoc, then flown at our field upon completion in spring
Stocks Raffle: Stock’s is not allowed to utilize our raffle license for their scooter raffle. Rules state that any collected money must be used by the club/org holding the license.
Field Development
Asphalt: Don Gruett’s donation of 50k could be used for an asphalt runway
i. Brian French has offered to donate $5k toward our installation of asphalt
ii. Al Howarth has offered to donate $10k toward installation of asphalt runway
Bryan Glasier of the County stated that we should wait until Spring to proceed with asphalt because:
i. Let gravel roadway settle over winter before driving heavy machinery on it
ii. County is too busy to pave our runway, etc. this fall
iii. The would have openings in the spring or summer to do the work
Jim S. reported a preliminary cost estimate from Bryan Glasier
i. Rough estimate would be $25,000 for blacktop + $6,000 to $10,000 in prep work
ii. This would include a 60-70’ wide runway, 700’ long as well as taxi ways
A covered shelter is an item that many members are interested in for the future. Such a shelter could contain a pavilion somewhere underneath it to serve food, etc.
$50,000 CD to be renewed for 6 months.
i. We will not be installing asphalt runways or clubhouses for the next 6 months, so we may as well accrue interest
Elections
Lloyd, Gene, and Eric will be stepping down from their officer positions at the end of the year (ending at December meeting). New officers will be needed. Consider being an officer, or nominating others to fill the openings.
i. Chuck Wernecke has volunteered to stay on at Vice President; thanks Chuck!
