 Cap Project

Al Howarth reported that there are 8 CAP kids signed up for the next plane building project.  They range in age from 17 to 19 years old.  The project will begin on Tuesday November 4, 2008 at the old Sacred Heart School, 702 State Street Manitowoc.  The meetings will be from 6-8:00 PM every Tuesday until further notice.  Some concern was voiced regarding the choice of meeting night.  Al will check with Ishi and confirm.  The plan is to have a single procedure or group of procedures for each meeting with two instructors present.  Volunteers nights will be staggered and overlap so that the same people do not have to be at every meeting.  All tools and equipment will be supplied by Al Howarth.

  Thunder on the Lakeshore

No more news about our participation in  the RC portion of the show.

 Field Status

For the most part, the runways, approaches, sod, and the filling along the runways and grass seeding is complete.

Some thought still has to be given to having a brat fry for the county workers and the County Board at the field.

Al Howarth will be painting the white X’s at the ends of the runways so that people from the air will know that our field is not a full scale landing field.

Still need to decide whether or not to paint center runway stripes this year.

The total cost of the work done by the county is approximately $270,000.00.  After that is paid the club will still have approximately $15,000.00 in our account.

Jim S. passed around some pictures showing the type of fencing used by some clubs at their fields.  We need to decide on what type and location of fencing for our field.

Al Howarth put three fire extinguishers at the filed and also a small wagon for use to transport models and equipment.

The club would like some aerial photos to include with an article about our new field to be sent to AMA.  Russ H. was volunteered to try get some?

 Open Floor

Need to decide on brat fry fund raisers and schedule early in January, 2009.

Fred S. to check with Gene P. for disposition of old model magazines now stored at Twin Cities building.

Question of property insurance was brought up.  Previous investigation indicated that it would be difficult to get insurance for our field because it is not occupied.

The subject of locking the gate to the field was again brought up.  It the general consensus that previous experiences at the old field indicate that there are less problems when the gate is not locked.

A field rules committee was established to update the rules for the new field.  The members are Jack Schoenberger, Lloyd Federer, Gene Pagel, and Jim Schneck.  No time table was established.

A motion to adjourn was made by Gene P. and seconded by Chuck W. Motion carried.
