Manitwo Flyers Club Meeting

M&M Lunch, Two Rivers, WI 3/20/07

 

Meeting called to order by pres. Lloyd Federer. 

Role was taken by Gene Pagel: 16 members present.

 Treasurer’s Report was read by Gene.  Net worth as of March 20, 2007 is $59,524.20.  Motion to approve the report was made by Vince Hickel, seconded by Lew Stevens, motion carried.

 Minutes read by Eric Cayemberg.  Motion to approve was made by Gene, 2nd by Vince, unanimously passed.

 Business

  1. Fund Raising (Al)
    1. Harley Raffle:

                                                               i.      If you are unable to sell your own tickets, go to an organization/business that is willing to sell them, and ask them to sell them for you.

                                                             ii.      Under half of the tickets have been sold. 

    1. CD

                                                               i.      It was suggested that we put Don Gruett’s donation into a short term CD to gain interest.  This could be done because currently the money is slated for the clubhouse, which will not be constructed until a later phase of field development.

1.      In the meantime, we will invest it in a 90 day CD at roughly 3.7% interest

  1. Educational Activities (Gene)
    1. Kevin Palmer of the county:

                                                               i.      Workshop April 28 where 70-80 kids will be present for a 2 hr. session in the morning, and 2 hr. session in the afternoon.  We could have a booth with a simulator, planes on static, videos, maybe rockets.

1.      Al Howarth to be the chair our involvement

a.       Fred Schulz, Chuck Wernecke, Eric Cayemberg volunteered

b.      Lloyd Federer, Kelly Sweetman to possibly fly park flyers if they can make it/conditions are favorable.

                                                             ii.      Kids Day: Manitowoc Ice Rink on the Expo Grounds, April 21

1.      We’ll not participate: in conflict with Spring Fling

                                                            iii.      Camp Tapawingo: There is a 3 week summer camp in July and they would like us to do a flight demo

1.      Al to inquire about flying area, send an email to interested members

                                                           iv.      Winter Projects: build in winter, fly in spring.  Contact Bill Kvinglog and/or Balsa USA to donate planes.

1.      An outline must be developed to determine program activities and a timeline

2.      Provide this outline and further description to Kvinglog, Balsa USA for support

                                                             v.      No word from Sheehan

                                                           vi.      Folk Fair: all set and ready to go

                                                          vii.      AUGUST 4 will be our Flight Education day.  1st Saturday in August unless otherwise stated; make your plans to attend now!

  1. Field (Lew)
    1. Sign is up, NO access to the field by driving!  Park and walk in if you’d like to fly, until things dry up

                                                               i.      Cable across driveway is hooked, may use the field, but not drive beyond the gravel

                                                             ii.      Jim informed Lew to go ahead and get pricing on gravel driveway installation

1.      We may work with the county and have them install the driveway, parking area at a reduced rate

                                                            iii.      Divots in field need filling: once frost is out of ground, we can work out there.

                                                           iv.      Oil and grease needed for the mowers.

1.      A motion to pay up to $100 to get mowers going again was made by Lloyd Federer, seconded by Kelly, motion carried.

                                                             v.      Lew was curious if we should continue our account with Cenex of Mishicot, or change providers; the decision was to stay with Cenex.

  1. Open Floor
    1. Bylaws

                                                               i.      We must verify that the copy of our Bylaws sent in with the 501-C3 application is our current club bylaws.

                                                             ii.      If we decide to make changes to the bylaws, we may do so after determining that our current bylaws are those which were sent in.

    1. Spring Fling

                                                               i.      A motion was made by Gene Pagel requesting a vote on whether or not we would host the Spring Fling this year.

1.      8 voted for holding the event, 6 voted against holding the event.

                                                             ii.      Al, Kelly, Fred, and Chuck will pursue holding the event, to be held Saturday, April 21.

    1. Rahr West Display

                                                               i.      From the first week of May through the Airshow weekend (roughly 5 weeks), the Rahr West Museum has invited us to showcase our model aircraft, helping create an aviation display.

1.      They will need nice looking planes and pictures.

2.      Al to check into what type of plane

3.      Gene will contact Rahr to determine the proper contact/s for the display.

    1. Fondy Warbirds & Classics

                                                               i.      Held August 17-19 at the Fond Du Lac Aeromodelers field

                                                             ii.      Several of our members will be attending.

Motion to adjourn was made by Lloyd, 2nd by Kelly.  All were in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
