Manitwo Flyers Club Meeting

M&M Lunch, Two Rivers, WI 12/19/06

 

Meeting called to order by pres. Lloyd Federer.

 

Role was taken: 11 members present.

 

No treasurer’s report was read.

1.Corrections were noted by Gene Pagel and Vince Hickel.  Corrections were made, and a motion to approve made by Vince Hickel, 2nd by Lew Stevens, unanimously passed.

 

Business

  1. Fund Raising (Don, Al)

    1. A Harley for the raffle is at Stocks of Manitowoc.

                                                               i.      Need raffle license # and treasurer’s name, address, phone #

    1. Donors: want to wait until Jan. 2007 to commit; and also to learn more about the club

    2. News Releases: Initial press release to announce the kick off of fundraising efforts; follow up articles to track progress

    3. Several contacts have been made, good prospects, one check has been received from Sauve’s Auto.

    4. Al Howarth to give presentation to TR Kiwanis.

  1. Business cards (Al)

    1. 150 have been printed.  No cost for 1st batch.

    2. Contact Al if you’d like some business cards to pass out.

  2. Brochure (Vince, Gene)

    1. 100 will be printed for $50.

  3. Educational Activities (Gene)

    1. Folk Fair May 7: Gene may not be there; Jack Schoenberger will pick up if Gene is absent.

    2. McGee: Presentation and flying demo: Interest is there, date to be determined

    3. Other educational opportunities such as Flight Ed, Boy Scouts, 4H, avenues of opportunity.

    4. Keep educational theme in mind!

  4. Christmas Party (Vince)

    1. Different dates and locations discussed

    2. Tumbleweed in Green Bay: January 19 or 26; date to be determined.

  5. Mission Statement (Gene)

    1. Gene P. presented a mission statement.  It was read over by members in attendance.  Motion to accept as written made by Jim  2nd by Ron Smith, unanimously approved

  6. Spring Fling: Possible dates: late April through early May.  Eric Cayemberg, Ron Smith to investigate.

  7. Election:

    1. Vince made a motion to vote on Nominees as written in the minutes from the November 21, 2006 meeting.  Gene 2nd. Unanimously passed. 

    2. 2007 Elected officers are as follows

  1. Fondy Big Bird DVD: Lew’s son Marc put together a nice DVD from the 2006 Fondy Big Bird Fly-In.  $21 gets you a high quality video.  Buy one today!

    1. Marc asked if we can post his DVD on our website; in turn for every video sold $3 goes to the Manitwo club.

  2. Barrier to prevent cars from driving on the field itself.  Discussion ensued, it was informally agreed that fences and barriers will be part of the field development in the coming months and years

  3. Gift Certificates for M&M Lunch owner and Wes Coenen.  It was decided that to thank Wes and M&M, the club would purchase $25 gift cards to Fleet Farm.

    1. Al made a motion that the club spend $25 each, for Wes and M&M in the way of Fleet Farm gift cards.  Lew 2nd.  Unanimously passed.

  4. Quickie 500 on Wednesday nights was discussed.  After clarification of the events, most thought it would not be a problem.

  5. Indoor Flying at Mishicot H.S. to begin on Wednesday, January 3.  Every Wednesday night from 7:30-9:30 in the winter.  Fly all winter with warm fingers!
