Manitwo Flyers, Ltd. Meeting

Minutes of August 19, 2008

 The meeting was called to order by President Lloyd Federer at 7:00 PM.  Role was taken with fifteen members present.  Three new members were present, Dave Pederson, John and Kyle Mohr.

 The treasurer’s report was read by Fred Scholz.  He noted that we have received dues from one new member.  The club has also received donations in the amounts of $200.00 from Don Schwiegert and $10,000.00 from Dave Schield.  A motion to accept the report as read was made by Jim S. and seconded by Jack S.  Motion carried. 

 The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Gene Pagel.  A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Vince H. and seconded by Chuck W.  Motion carried.

 Club Brochure

Gene Pagel ordered 100 copies of the updated club brochure.  They have been received and are available from Gene Pagel.

 Cap Project

Due to some confusion on the meeting time the CAP kids get their flying lessons last week. The kids will again be at the field this coming Thursday for flight training.  Al Howarth will get that issue resolved and advise everyone of the correct meeting time.  Also Gene Pagel stated that he will get the info for the CAP project article to the Region VII VP by the end of August.

Thunder on the Lakeshore

Al Howarth met with the committee and was assured by Curt Drum that the RC portion of the show will be provided by the Manitwo Flyers, Ltd.  He will again bring it up at the next meeting with Curt to confirm.

 Field Status 

The field is progressing with placement of the remaining gravel to be completed by the end of next week.  After the gravel is all in the runways will be watered sever times and allowed to settle before the black top is applied.  The projected completion of the runways is the end of September.  The areas of the field area that is not black topped or graveled is being hydro-seeded to prevent erosion.(swales and mounds)  The West Foundation has been given our request for funding for the field.  The Foundation is meeting tomorrow and we might know the result by next week.

 Open Floor

Fred Scholz suggested that the club hold some brat fries to raise money for the club.  He will check at Rob’s Market.

 Gene Pagel made a motion to appoint Al Howarth to investigate dates for a possible jet rally at the new field, seconded by Jack S.  Motion carried.

 Videos are now available and stored at the field.  Check with anyone that has access to the storage building and they will help you get the one/ones that you would like.  A complete list of the videos is on the web site.

 A motion to adjourn was made by Jim S. and seconded by Lew S.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 8:06PM.
