Manitwo Flyers Club Meeting

M&M Lunch, Two Rivers, WI 8/21/07

 

Meeting called to order by pres. Lloyd Federer.

 

Role was taken: 17 members present including 3 new members, Steve Weinert and his sons Victor, Winston, and Tom, Lee Reno from Manitowoc, and Don Regee who has moved from Illinois to Two Rivers.  Welcome to all.

 

Treasurer’s Report was read by Gene Pagel.  Net worth as of  August 21,2007 is $76.761.57.  Motion to approve the report was made by Vince Hickel, seconded Lew Stevens, motion carried.

 

Minutes read by Eric Cayemberg.  Motion to approve was made by Chuck Wernecke, 2nd by Vince, unanimously passed.

 

Business

  1. Bylaws: tabled until September

  2. Fund Raising (Al, Don)

    1. Ariens: It has been determined that we MAY accept donations from outside of Manitowoc County, however there is more paperwork involved, which the accountant is ok with.

    2. Thank yous to be sent to GT Spas, Stocks Harley Davidson, Jay’s Barber Shop in Two Rivers, Bubbas Place.  Eric to do.

    3. Funds accrued from Bike raffle: $8460

    1. No rockets: Neighbor behind trees does not care for them

    1. At Hwy 42 and 147, should state something to the effect of “Manitwo Flyers RC Park .5 miles (with an arrow pointing in the appropriate direction.

    2. Al to check on cost and regs. further

  2. Field (Lew)

    1. Saturdays & during the week: fill in holes. 

    2. Fall work day on the field: October 20

    3. Gypsum: $4 per 40 lb bag from Green Acres.  Al offered to pay for 40 bags at $4 each.  Thank you Al!

                                                               i.      Each bag should cover roughly 1000 sq. ft.

                                                             ii.      Help needed to spread

    1. October: Winterizer should be put on the field.  Gene offers to cover the cost of roughly $200 to do so.  Thank you Gene!

    2. Insurance:  American Family not returning calls, don’t want our business.  Other options to be explored.

    3. Tractor: lowered down, the castors have been remachined, arms have been straightened.  Thank you to Lew, Gene, others for equipment maintenance.

    4. Needed for the future: Weed eater, sprinkler, 50’ hose, electrical cords, straight broom.  Please donate as you are able!  Look for good deals on season ending clearance/closeouts.

                                                               i.      Gene made a motion to purchase above equipment spending up to $200 of the club’s funds.  2nd by Lew.  Motion carried.

    1. Field is being cut once a week now.

  1. Open Floor

    1. A reminder was made that if you intend to receive reimbursement, any and all purchases must go through Gene; and you must have a receipt in order for you to be given any money back.

    2. Fred questioned if we should add a lock to the gate in the future.  It was stated that we hope we don’t need to; that the gate and No Trespassing sign/s should be sufficient to ward of unwanted guests.

    3. Gene mentioned it would be a good idea to have a formal place for storing important papers and documents.

                                                               i.      A 2.75” x 5”x 17” safe deposit box at the bank costs $17/yr.

                                                             ii.      3.75” x 5” x 17” costs $21/yr

                                                            iii.      A fireproof safe may work as well: who would keep/store it?

    1. 501C-3 Articles of Incorporation: A proper copy should be located, available, and stored.

    2. Don Gruett talked to Stock’s Harley Davidson.  They are holding a benefit Sept. 29, where they raffle off a scooter.  Don stated they may be able to utilize our raffle license as a favor for donating to us a Harley.  We should try to help them, provided there is nothing stating that we cannot.

                                                               i.      Al made a motion to help them by providing the use of our raffle license, as long as there is nothing in our license preventing it.  2nd by Jack S., motion carried.

    1. Lew stated that to mow along the roadway takes a whopping 5 hours!  We need a mower for that area.  Al feels that Ariens may be able to donate a mower for our use.

    2. Jack inquired about pilot stations.  For now we should paint stations on the grass or provide temporary means of locating said stations.  Al to look into the more formal orange fencing, PVC frame/fitting stations used at established clubs abroad.

    3. Just a note, our club designation is: Manitwo Flyers Ltd.
