December Meeting 2003

The December meeting of the Manitwo Flyers was sparsely populated with only 9 members.  Fortunately there was enough for a quorum, otherwise there would be no officers for next year.  The elections were held and the same guys are back.  The 9 guys there appreciated their effort for the past year so they were voted in again.  Hopefully the other 40 members appreciate all the efforts as well.

Some members in the club were looking for a site for scale warbirds, IMAA legal.  If someone knows of a site please email one of the officers.

There was income and expenses in November.

The treasury is double that from last year at this time but still woefully inadequate for the expenses of a new field.

There was a lot of discussion on how to attract more participation in the club events.  Should we require people to help?  Should we have a tiered membership where participators pay one fee and the non participants pay a one time higher fee.  Next month this will be decided.  The by laws will be changed to reflect and support the decision.

Soon a letter will be passed around highlighting the upcoming changes.  If you agree or disagree it is strongly suggested you attend the next two meetings.  January will air the proposals and in February they will be voted upon.  Because of the lengthy discussions anticipated the January meeting will start at 6:30 pm instead of 7:30.

We need a fun fly committee to check into what is needed for a fun fly.  Perhaps some guys can check with the other clubs and see what they do.  What functions need to be done, how many people etc.

People without email need to be made aware of club events.  Snail mail must be sent as well as email.

Tom has new software that will allow us to keep track of members better then we have in the past.  We should be able to tell who the participators are.

The past year saw many new things done by the club.  We had a brat fry, increased participation at the Airport Days, Flight education days, flying at Mishicot days.  We tried to hold some combat meets and currently have many members having fun at the electric indoor fly ins.

Rummage sale is still going to be held.  Al has several shelves set up in his warehouse.  If you have items to drop off, get a hold of Al and he can make arrangements for you to drop off the goodies.  Keep the times in a bag to help them to stay clean.

Field update:  still waiting for Township approval.  Gene is still looking into alternate sites.

There will be a rule change for next year.  Due to AMA recommendations, DNR restrictions, we need to prevent NITRO fuel from infiltrating the ground.  Contamination is your responsibility.  We need to stop the fuel from getting onto the ground, either a rug or some container to catch the overflow.

Somebody has been using the field for a dump.  This is not good.  There were many bags of old newspapers that had to be removed and recycled.  There is also a scrapped birdhouse that was left in the building.
