(Official Flying Site of the Manitwo Flyers Ltd.)
|
|
|
1) Follow the A.M.A. Model Aircraft Safety Code and the Safety Regulations for Models Powered by Gas Turbines. Model flying MUST be in accordance with these codes for A.M.A. liability protection to apply. 2) Each person operating a model aircraft shall assume responsibility for any/all accidents or incidents caused by their actions. 3) Intentional flying behind the flight line is prohibited. No-Fly Zone is shown on posted field map. No aircraft powered by gas turbine or piston engines shall be run or flown before 8:00AM 4) All flying will be done from and in front of the pilot stations positioned on the edge of the East/West and North/South runways. (Exceptions are as listed) |
|
a. Pilots testing a new or repaired model may, after informing all other pilots at the field, stand behind the model on the field for takeoff. After the model is airborne and trimmed, the pilot shall return to a proper flying station. b. Instructors shall have complete control of the flying field while instructing a student. All other planes shall remain on the ground and shut down unless permission is granted by the controlling instructor to conduct specific activities. |
5) The active runway and either clockwise or counterclockwise flight pattern shall be established by the current wind direction and consensus of those pilots present for that day’s flying activities. A pilot wishing to land will notify other pilots by calling out “coming in” or “landing”.
6) Landing models have the right away. “Dead Stick” takes immediate priority. A pilot whose engine quits shall immediately call out LOUDLY “dead stick” so other pilots are aware of the immediate landing and probable person on the field to retrieve the aircraft. The person retrieving a model shall call out “on the field” prior to stepping out on the runway. If another “dead stick” should occur while someone is on the field, he/she shall clear the field immediately while avoiding the incoming aircraft.
7) Take off.
|
a. Take off runs shall be started from at least the center of the active runway. This is to avoid endangering people, should the model go astray. b. Hand and high start launches will be out on the field across the active runway from the pilot stations with the launch directed parallel to the flight line. After the launch the pilot shall return to the pilot station and the launcher shall return to the pit area. It is expected that other pilots present will assist the launching pilot back to the pilot station. |
8) Landings shall be made at least in the center of the active runway. This is to avoid endangering people, should the model go astray.
9) Intentional low passes to active runway shall be made over the non-paved area beyond the active runway. (This is determined to be north of the east/west or west of the north/south runway, whichever is the active runway).
10) The FREQUENCY PIN for your frequency must be in your possession PRIOR to turning on your transmitter. When the frequency pin is in a pilot’s possession, a pin with the pilot’s name and AMA number will be used to replace the frequency pin in the frequency box. Non member guests shall attach their AMA card to the red pin (Pins located in bottom of frequency box) and place this pin where the frequency pin was removed.
a. Spread spectrum radio users shall have a fluorescent pin in their possession prior turning on the transmitter. (Pins located in bottom of frequency box.) Their pin with name and AMA number shall be attached to the (top edge of the frequency box) while fluorescent pin is in their possession.
11) A preflight check of the aircraft and a range check of the radio equipment must be performed before the first flight of the day for every model prior to starting the engine.
12) Any pilot suspecting radio interference problems while airborne or taxiing shall call out “INTERFERENCE”. All other pilots with aircraft on the ground and engines not running shall immediately “turn off” their transmitters. (This shall be done regardless of frequency pin in possession.) Out of control aircraft shall be declared as soon as control is determined to be lost.
13) Models shall be restrained by mechanical means or by an assistant while starting engine(s). (A simple rope loop with an anchor pin will suffice.)
14) Models shall be directed toward the runway in use and away from cars, spectators, and other pilots while starting and test run-up of engine(s). After landing an aircraft a pilot may taxi it back to the pilot station, but must stop the engine on the runway.
15) A maximum of five (5) models shall be airborne or running at any time. Combat or pylon racing rules may amend this rule for combat or pylon racing only. When more than two aircraft are airborne spotters shall be used.
16) Each pilot, guest, or spectator is to remove his or her own litter from the flying field including pet waste and smoking materials. Everything brought to the field should leave with the person who brought it.
17) Each pilot shall call out “transmitter on” as radio is turned on if other pilots are at the field except when using spread spectrum.
18) Combat flying or pylon flying will be done on scheduled evenings when the field will be closed for sport flying or with the consent of all other pilots at the field on non-scheduled days.
19) It shall be brought to the attention of the Field Marshall/Safety Officer, any person or persons who violate these rules.
20) An effective means of containing all overflow and spillage must be used when refueling.
21) During special preplanned flying events the field will be closed for normal open flying.
22) Non Manitwo Flyers Ltd. A.M.A. member guests may use Manitwo field without charge under the following guidelines:
