The meeting started promptly at 7:01. There were 17 members present, at least by the end of the meeting. There was one guest present, Jim Heier, who used to be in the club. He was trying to sell an Airtronics 660 Computer radio. It is a nice radio, barely used but about 5 years old, with servos.
The treasurer’s report was read and approved. We currently have about $3668 in the hidden Swiss Bank accounts. We received money, $200 from Fox Hills for the flight demonstration we did there. We made $100 on brat sales during the flight education days. There was one new member at $25. Various expenses including $108 for the web site hosting came up to $189.
Minutes were read and approved.
We have been reinstated as a corporation. Thanks to Al’s hard work we now are incorporated again. We can all sleep easier at night now.
The flight education day was a great success despite the inclement weather. With the 10 or so people holding down the tents we managed to survive the storm without anything blowing away. After which we gave a few more people some flights. We made money in part to the fact the Chad did not charge us for the cost of the brats. Thanks Chad. Gene and Vince brought soda as well. There were two articles in the paper about this day. This was very good publicity for us.
Recently many members of the club, great turnout, went to the proposed new site. We did a walk through of where the field will be. It is in rough state yet and still planted with soybeans but it looks very promising. It is going to be seeded this fall and there will be some ground work next spring.
There is a brat fry coming up at Sentry in Manitowoc on Saturday August 30th. More help is needed. Call Ryan Knier on his cell phone 629-0521 to book your time.
The fun fly was a great success for the 5 people that participated. Next summer we will have only 1 fun fly held on a Sunday open to everyone. We will try to invite the area clubs as well.
Starting in September the meetings will be held inside again at Rudy’s lanes at 7:30pm.
Gene Pagel and Tom Curell have signed up to work on the field committee.
It might be possible for us to add a building to the field by acquiring a used house trailer. Perhaps a doublewide 28x32. It might be available for the cost of moving to our location. We need to keep our eyes and ears open for this possibility.
One way to make money for the club would be to have a rummage sale. With donated items we would have a big rummage sale in the spring. Perhaps combine this with a brat fry. Where could we have this and when are still up for debate.
Another way to make money would be to host a fish boil.
Perhaps we could have another flight education day/show/brat fry thing is the spring as well. If someone were to join from one of these events we would offer them a $5 discount on their first year membership.
It was moved that we add to our video library. We will get a crash video and one other. Thanks, Eric
