Manitwo Flyers, Ltd. Meeting
Minutes of March 17, 2009
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Chuck Wernecke at 7:00 PM. Role was taken with eleven members present.
The minutes for the February meeting were unavailable at the time of the meeting do to computer error. It was also noted no one received via e-mail these same minutes. Cindy Wirth will be looking into the problems.
The treasurer’s report was read by Al Howarth. A motion to accept the report as read was made by Jack Schoenberger and seconded by Lew Stevens. Motion carried. Al has also printed out business cards for the club. See him if you would like to have some.
Old Business
Cap report – Al Howarth announced that there will be a group picture taken Tuesday, March 24th with the instructors, boys and the airplanes. All instructors need to be at Twin Cities Marine at 6:00 pm.
Jet Rally – Will be held July 10th, 11th & 12th. Al Howarth sent out 270 postcards to jet pilots all over the U.S. Getting some replies back. Festival Foods verbally committed to furnish all soda. Copps verbally committed to furnish all bottled water. He also reported we are now receiving donations from various vendors. Al working on advertising between Manitowoc and Two Rivers. He is also looking into different avenues of advertising i.e., radio stations. Lloyd questioned parking; Al made a note and will look into it. Al to meet with Dave & Jeannie Pederson in regard to Jeannie helping out with the preparations for the jet rally.
2009 Air Show – we are the premier RC club for the show. We need people to fly.
New Business
Grand Opening – Again is set for Saturday, June 27, 2009. Jack Schoenberger suggested we combine the grand opening and the flight education day. Al Howarth questioned if Jeannie Pederson could also head up this committee, and will ask her when they meet for the jet rally.
Field Maintenance – Lew Stevens has again volunteered to take care of the maintenance at the field and the portable toilet. As the season progresses he will need volunteers to do grass cutting. Lew will make up a list and a schedule as to the things that need to be done. Al Howarth also said he would like to see a group out picking stones again this year. A suggestion was made to maybe have the CAP boys work on this. Lew will also need money for gas and maintenance. Jack Schoenberger motioned to provide a fund of $100.00 to Lew for gas and maintenance, Al Howarth seconded it. Motion carried.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Jack Schoenberger and seconded by Lloyd Federer. Motion carried.
