EMERGENCY MEETING
March 30 th 2004
Meeting called to order by Al Howarth
Field committee: Would take care of field development- Order of improvements
Would be in charge of improvements without burden to member dues-Money will come from donations. This committee would possibly be a 7 member board. The first order of improvements would be to replace what we currently have. Access road and parking along with a grass strip to fly off of should be done this year. This committee would have the right to make the day to day decisions about construction at the new field.
The current parcel of land brings in a tax/lease cost of $4200 for the 147acres. We would be leasing 26.9acres for $768 per year. A small increase over what we currently pay.
Right now there is a farmer using the field for wheat. If we are to move there in July and start to get a flying field ready, what happens to his crops. When does his lease terminate? This is the counties concern but we do not want to start out making enemies.
Field map layout? Nothing set as to what goes where as of now. If the proposed layout is not ok then alternatives will be looked at. There are major questions about the car track and the line control circles. Safety must always be forefront when planning the layout. The car track should not be right off the end of the runway. The control line flyers should not be behind the flight line. There is a major distance between the parking and the North/South runway. No provisions for evening flying. Who covers the car track insurance? Where would the barriers be? Does this field need to be handicap assessable. Helicopter pads needed?
Chamber of Commerce will help with fundraising by providing a list of local individuals and organizations that donate to local worthy causes. They will let us know who to contact and the information we need to provide them. There is a meeting with them on April 19th.
One way to raise money would be to provide a limited lifetime memberships for a $5000 donation –15 memberships available. This could bring in $75000. there was a discussion on whether or not this lifetime member would be a voting member or not. This issue was not yet decided.
With all of the donations it is important for the club to thank all of our benefactors. We need to provide a letter of thanks and a receipt for tax purposes. Don Gruett has the form for this.
Al has met with TA Sports and they have agreed to provide an ATV for use during the flying season. We would have to provide the insurance on this. We have a donation from George Accounting for $200, and from Nationwide Trucking for $1000. Separate books will be needed to keep donations and the normal club treasure distinct.
With all of the proposed donations the club needs a way of recognizing these people. A billboard will be setup for listing names of donors near the entrance to the field or perhaps a wall of fame on the new clubhouse wall.
Motion to spend $300 for conditional use permit, seconded and approved. This permit is needed before the lease can be filed with the county.
AIRPORT DAYS: 7:00-8:00am flights on Buddy box with instructor. A separate AMA insurance policy will be taken out for this. Perhaps we could charge $10 for each flight. This money would then go into the clubs treasury.
MPS Lincoln High School Industrial Technology class is building planes. There are 12 kids in class who may need some instruction on how to fly these planes.
The only requirement the AMA has for instructors is that the club handles this. It is up to the club to insure that the instructors are up to snuff.
Porta-potty issues again-continue lease for now.
John Doolan sent a nice letter to the club asking for reduced dues for “retired” Members-non-flying. This would be a non voting member. Perhaps the lower $25 member would be fine or he might want this to be $10. It is important to keep ex members in the club interested. They can always be a source of help in the future at all of the planned events.
Don Gruett – Talk to someone on Banner for Airport days. This would be free of charge. It would be a banner on Don’s hanger with our name in big bold lettering.
Al’s DONATION flyer handout packet was passed around. Everyone is encouraged in showing this to a prospective donor. Let Al know so he can do the necessary follow up.
Spring maintenance for lawnmower service-Motion up to let Lew spend not more than $200 for items for the mower: oil, battery,Etc……Motion made, seconded and carried. Tom will provide the weed killer. We will not fertilize this year. Currently there are 9 nines signed up to cut the field, with 1 alternate. If anyone is not on Lew’s list, give him a call.
U.S. Scale team-looking for donations-raffle tickets-anyone interested? Due to the cost of starting a new field we will not be donating as a club this year.
Young Eagles? No response back to us, so as of now we will not be helping.

Two Rivers community House May 3rd 9:00-2:30
Manty Airshow Website:Vince to get info to Curt Drumm.
We need a history paper and a new brochure. Vince will be working on this. If anyone has any ideas please pass them on. A copy of the current brochure is on the website. The new one should include information on joining the club.
We currently have 20 paid members in the club.
Raffle for 2004 - Looking for someone to head it up. Motion made to have 2500 tickets printed, seconded and approved. Francis Duffy volunteered to be in charge of the ticket sale this year. The main problem we had last year was keeping track of all the numbers. If at all possible please return your ticket stubs and money all at once. This year we are not requiring the members to buy the tickets. If you can not sell them to someone you are not obligated to pay the club for the tickets. This year the prizes are $250 case, $100 cash and $50 cash.
Mishicot Days-July 3rd $200 donation for helping them out, Lew Stevens is in charge. If you want to help let Lew know. He is in need of a sound system.
Motion to spend $60 for insurance for flight days-seconded-and approved
Check into having to revise by-laws for field board committee or addendum to them. ON HOLD until more thought can be put into the make up of the committee.
Motion made to mail the proposed lease to all current members and last years members to be voted on yes or no seconded-approved. Of course when it comes time for the vote only the tally from current members will count. So if you want to have your voice count on the lease then make sure you are a member by the April 20th meeting.
A paper list of what this year’s events are should be mailed to non internet members.
